Peter and the Wolf
Last May 13, 2011 talented members of Jeunesses Musicales came from Montreal to the Arts Centre to perform a fun adaptation of Peter and the Wolf geared to children aged 6 to 12. As part of our new education/outreach to youth program, the BCA offered this show free to 400 schoolchildren, who loved it while learning about music and the instruments. We thank the RBC Foundation and other donors for making it possible to present this show.
2011 Fall Classical Series

This 90 member ensemble brings the best young musicians from across the country to our main stage. They will bring a large variety of instruments and brilliant enthusiasm with a program including Tchaikovsy and Shostakovich.
The coveted places on the NYOC are awarded to the ‘best of the best’ young Canadian musicians aged 16 to 28. These extraordinarily gifted young artists will thrill you with their performance. The orchestra received the prestigious title of “best young orchestra in the world” at the World Youth Orchestra conference in Tokyo - and again in Edinburgh.
The NYOC’s concert tours have included every major Canadian City as well as tours in the United States, Asia and Europe. We are truly fortunate to have these outstanding young talents perform for us in Brockville this August. This concert, featuring works by Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich and Marcus Goddard of the Vancouver Symphony, is not to be missed!

Thank you to our main sponsor the Brockville and Area Community Foundation.

Renowned musicians, Mauro Bertoli pianist, and Wolfgang David, violinist, will be performing during their 11 city tour of Canada. In honour of Schumann’s anniversary last year, they will play a tribute to his body of work.

Baritone Benjamin Covey, and Mezzo soprano, Julie Nesrallah, will perform a selection of famous opera arias, alone or in duo. Ben is our local Brockville star, now performing with major opera companies internationally. Julie is the host of Tempo, on CBC daily, and a highly regarded interpreter of Bizet's Carmen, which sold out in Ottawa last summer.
André Laplante, internationally acclaimed Canadian pianist, has established himself as one of the great romantic virtuosos. Juno award winner in 2004, and inducted Officer of the Order of Canada in 2006.
André will play a selection of pieces by Liszt, for which he is a recognized specialist.
