Bassist,
composer and vocalist Brandi Disterfeft is fast becoming one of
Canadian jazz’s brightest new stars. Still in her twenties, Brandi
has already made a huge impression on thousands of listeners with
her imaginative, charismatic performances in Japan, Haiti, Europe,
the US and Canada.
A native of Vancouver, Brandi's career started in her teens, playing with her mother, Chicago-born pianist Fran Jare. She has since studied with jazz legends niels-Henning Pedersen adn Don Thompson. Brandi recently moved to New York city to study with legendary bassist Ron Carter.
Brandi has opened for such top acts as Diana Krall and Dave Brubeck. Her charismatic performances range from heart-felt blues, bebop and cool ballads.
Brandi’s premiere
CD Debut won the 2008 Juno Award for Traditional Jazz Album of
the Year. Her sophomore recording explores singer/songwriter territory where the influences of Joni Mitchell and Brazillian pop can be heard.
